Ezekiel 25:17

As we prepare for our ordeal and to confront our own personal demons, I must confess to feelings of misgivings as the words of Ezekiel continue to prey on my mind.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.” Ezekiel 25:17.

I’ve only just realised that the Japanese t-shirt in the Shinto shrine of a previous post featured the well-known QANTAS pilot John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction.

Nothing can bond a couple of guys better than large guns, a biblical reference, bad haircuts and righteous vengeance.

Made more meaningful by creative use of fonts:

“…when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

A good afro demands respect even without a gun:

There are lots of imitators:

even a big brother hottie:

but you open yourself to parody:

even Banksy:

and not forgetting the kiddies:

Another T-shirt

Even better with a big gun:

Tarentino popularizing the bible. Of course you can make it even more meaningful and more compensating if you make the words into the shape of a gun:

Even better if the words are shaped as a gun AND are a tattoo:

“…when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

“…when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

“…when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

“…when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

“…when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

You can keep your thoughts vengeful at work with the “…when I lay my vengeance upon thee.” mouse-pad

or you may prefer the more classic “Ezekiel Wheels” mouse-pad:

But for the ultimate accessory, you need this distortion generator which goes way past “11”, all the way up to 25:17 :

And when you’ve had your great vengeance, turn to Ezekiel 4:9

Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side.” Ezekiel 4:9

We won’t mention Ezekiel 23:20

But I did seek some “Big Ring” guidance and the biggest ring is 53:11, but Ezekiel 53:11 doesn’t exist and I turned to Isaiah:

After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light and be satisfied.” Isaiah 53:11
With the commentary emphasising “The word rendered here ‘suffering’ (עמל ‛âmâl), denotes properly travail, labor, toil; wearisome labor; labor and toil which produces exhaustion; and hence, sometimes vexation, sorrow, grief, trouble.” – Big ring riding indeed.

You have inspired me Mark. I am considering an Ezekiel 25:17 tattoo that incorporates the Southern Cross for the back of my calf. I think it would be nice/different/unusual

(Left calf, obviously, as I wouldn’t want to mess with the grease-mark of shame tattoo I have planned for the right calf)

Mark, you can’t pick and choose which verses of the inerrant bible you observe. Ezekiel 23:20 is as relevant as any other and is required reading. It’s message must be examined, processed and understood preferably before embarking on the xmas epic as your chosen route will take you through a lot of rural and farming terrain.

Here it is for those too squeamish to look it up.

“There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.” Ezekiel 23:20
